Dr. Jaya Udayasankar attended Kilpauk Medical College and completed her residency and served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital. She completed clinical and postdoctoral research training in the division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition at the University of Washington and holds board certification in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.

Dr. Jaya has expertise in all areas of endocrinology and metabolism including thyroid dysfunction, thyroid cancer, lipid disorders, hypertension, calcium and parathyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary gland disorders, hypogonadism, osteoporosis and the management of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. She has special interests in the management of diabetes and its complications including care of patients on insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors.

Dr. Jaya believes in providing compassionate and comprehensive care that is evidence-based and tailored to meet individual needs of patients. Her philosophy of care  is based on educating patients so that they can make informed decisions for a healthy life. She strongly believes that mutual trust and respect is needed for a strong doctor-patient relationship. 

Dr. Jaya is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington and is involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She has co-authored several papers in basic science and clinical aspects of diabetes and is a guest speaker at regional meetings on diabetes-related topics.
