General Information

Biography
Good healthcare is dependent on a trusting relationship between a patient and physician. My goal is to build a relationship with my patients to promote wellness and well-being in the hope of preventing illness and disease. However, trust is conditional and requires time and effort from all parties involved to develop.

Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

I don't have any concerns about the knowledge or experience of the physician I see there, but I feel like he lacks interpersonal skills. When I've been there I always walk away with the opinion that I'm just a task in his day. Probably the way to best describe it is clinical. His medical advice is specific to my problem, my comment should not reflect on his medical knowledge, just that I wish I didn't feel like a task. Essentially, there's no small talk when I walk in, no "hi, how are you?" or "how many kids do you have?" or "where do you work?", no extraneous conversation-no relationship building so I feel comfortable there. If I was experiencing a medical problem that would require more intensive physician oversight I would have switched physicians by now.

abysmal experience. will be looking for a different doctor.

we did not discuss any prescription medication so I was completely surprised when my pharmacy called to tell me my prescription was ready. who does that?? Turned out he called in an over the counter nose spray. I did not get it.

Went in for physical and also wanted to discuss chronic low back pain. Provider made me feel like he didn't have time to discuss my issue [...]. Felt like he didn't listen to anything I had to say and instead read me statistics about obesity. I will definitely be back to the clinic but will be seeing a different provider.

[...] very happy.

The provider was very cold and condescending. I will never see provider again. He was supposed to email me on my chart after speaking with the financial advisor regarding how much a blood test would cost and I never received the email.

This doctor complained that he had seen me more often for my sinus infections than Dr. [...] and that it was taking up time he could spend with his own patients. He asked if I had come for drugs(antibiotics) to which I replied that I was hoping he had a better solution. He suggested that next time I found myself with a sinus infection I just called in and he would prescribe antibiotics. He then backed away from that and said I should see my own doctor. He was short, rude and hostile and barely examined me. The only positive thing that came from the visit was his suggestion that I see a sinus specialist. He made me feel as though I got these infections just to annoy him and that I was some kind of antibiotic addict. Nothing could be further from the truth and I was insulted to be treated this way. With the exception of this particular individual I have been quite satisfied with the care I have received at this clinic.

Dr Etzkorn completely misdiagnosed my condition, prescribed an unnecessary and useless antibiotic and focused on secondary conditions that were not relevant for my immediate problem.

He was extremely insulting and dismissive. He completely derailed the purpose of the visit and ignored the health concern I was there for, instead seemed adamant that I have a mental illness I do not have (this 'diagnosis' if you can call it that was based on a very short first time visit with this provider), and recommended treating this with medication that I told him repeatedly had very bad side effects for me. It was obvious he didn't care. The medical concern I was there for was not solved. [...] He ignored what I had to say, which made me want to repeat myself even though I knew he wouldn't listen the second time if he didn't listen the first. Will not go back or recommend.

Dr Etzkorn has attrocious "bedside manner". The second he walked in the room he seemed like he couldn't wait to leave. He seemed to have borderline contempt for me before I had even spoken a word about my very routine and normal questions. He cut me off while speaking several times and left the room while I was in the middle of asking him a question. I don't think he had any bad or dangerous advice, but it was a very poor experience because of his extremely poor communication.

I came to the office with a concern about having felt run down and returning flu/stomach symptoms. [...] i'd been under a lot of stress and just wanted to make sure my blood work looked okay (i.e. vitamin deficiency, thyroid, etc.). I wasn't feeling and looked awful and he seemed to persist that I was depressed and needed to explore taking anti-depressants. I was quite surprised because I'm not depressed at all and generally have a good attitude, but I had been losing energy quickly throughout the day so it was concerning me. I have some anxiety about my health, but I was there to address that by getting a blood test. On my sheet that I was given when I left, he actually had the audacity to say that I had been seen for a "HCC Mood Disorder".

I will not be returning to DR Etzkorn. DR Etzkorn was belittling, unhelpful [...]. Sitting there, I debated walking out of the room [...]. I went to him genuinely trying to improve my condition, but his condescension is unmatched by any health care provider I have seen. DR Etzkorn seemed like I was causing some sort of problem and doing nothing about it, when that could not be further from the truth. He did end up filling my prescription, which was what I needed anyway, but again, I WILL NEVER RETURN TO SEE HIM.

Provider told me my back and neck pain were "imaginary symptoms" that I had made up because of my anxiety (to which I am being successfully treated), was pushy in trying to prescribe anti-anxiety medication even though my psychiatrist and I have ruled that out as a necessity. [...] He did provide referrals to a Physical Therapist for my back and neck at my request, but told me it was probably all made up in my head. [...] I was so upset I cancelled my future Annual Physical with him [...]

I will never see this physician again, and I would recommend anyone who uses Swedish Physicians to avoid him. [...] I said "Nice to meet you" when Dr. Epzkorn came in the exam room, and he said "I've seen you before" which I thought could have come across as abrupt but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I then had him examine me for what I was concerned might be a lump [...]. He then said everything was fine after he examined my [...] and said there was nothing that appeared abnormal. When I said it felt different and had changed in the last couple of months, he said I needed to make an appointment with an imaging provider from Swedish for an ultrasound. Fair enough, but the way he was so abrupt and quite frankly, rude, left a very bad taste in my mouth [...]. I will continue to see Dr. [...], who I really liked, but I will never use this particular physician again.

Provider seems efficient and smart. Lacked any caring, concern, engagement or personality. Very robotic

This was the most horrific experience I have ever had with a care provider. The doctor entered the room and seemed extremely annoyed by my presence. I have never been spoken to so condescendingly by a provider. I had questions about when I needed to schedule a follow up blood draw and what needed to be scheduled/not scheduled and where I could have the lab done. Instead of answering the question he said "I wrote it down for you" and pointed to the screen so that I could read it. I had questions about the next steps after my next test results (whether I had to have another visit to adjust my dosage or not) and he again seemed irritated that I had any questions and spoke to me like I was an idiot. He then coded the visit and walked out of the room. [...] I will NOT be returning to this clinic after my experience with the nurse and doctor.

Dr. Etzkorn appears to be quite knowledgeable but needs to work on his people skills. He always comes across kind of annoyed.

04/20/2016
Provider was very rude and disrespectful. Repeatedly stated he would not be my "pill pusher" and that it was "not what he went to medical school to do" for an rx that I take 2-3 times per year for panic attacks on flights. Dismissive when I stated I would prefer female provider for pap

Dr. Etzkorn seems to have no bedside manner. [...] He is not personable, comes off cold and seems to be in a hurry to get out of the room. I'm not sure what the deal is, but he is not a very engaging medical care provider. May know his stuff medically and was professional, but has no personal connection with this patient.

Overall, provider did what he needed to. The experience itself was very monotone. There was no warmth from the doctor and it felt like just an interaction with a robot. I will be visiting another physician in the future.

The doctor was rule and had no personal skills.

The doctor got to them core of more than one health issue (and thorny ones too), and collaborated with me well on a treatment plan. He was "right down to business", but still cordial and respectful. He responded well to follow up email with that same focus on treatment. His treatment-focused demeanor might not work for you if you're seeking a high-touch primary care provider, but I would certainly recommend him if you are sick.

I asked him about vegetables for my condition I was eating and he had no knowledge about its benefits. Even though I was benefiting from eating and drinking the juice of the vegetable he didn't think it was helping me. I didn't hear back from him about him looking into it.

This was my first (and last) time seeing this provider. Scheduled a routine check-up, first in 18 months, hoping to get a wellness exam [...]. Provider seemed confused by the point of my visit and probed for specific problems I was experiencing. When I brought up 3 (likely) unrelated issues, he seemed annoyed and asked me if I knew 'how going to the doctor worked'. I never received an opinion about my wellness and general health maintenance - which was the main point of the visit - except the suggestion that I not come back for another check-up until I turn 40. […] Maybe this is how preventative medicine works, but it's the first time it's ever been explained to me so bluntly and goes against the conventional wisdom I've grown up with.

This was a follow-up visit after a visit to the ER (on a holiday when it was only option) for a serious illness. This provider showed a strong lack of compassion for my concerns. I do/did not question his medical capabilities, however.

I felt when I told the doctor that I was looking for a female doctor as my permanent physician, he turned a bit colder to me. Otherwise, he talked to me about my health concerns and that went fine. I was confused at the end if I was done or not when he left.

[…] When I called for an appointment, I learned that my normal doctor had left Swedish and that I could see this doctor who was taking on her patients. When I met with him, he was not very friendly or personable. […] I felt like I was wasting his time. I was being seen for a sore throat, which had been bothering me for several days but he made me feel like it wasn't severe enough for me to come in. He asked me if I had any other health concerns to share and I did bring up several that I had been waiting to see my GP about. This must have been the wrong thing to do because he told me that I should only be seen for the ailments that I schedule appointments for, which further confused me because he had just asked me if I had anything else to discuss. […] I couldn't help but feel like I had offended him or inconvenienced him. […] My former GP was much more friendly and warm, so this experience was really strange to me and not a positive one.
