International Patient Services will be your advocate and a single point of contact for you if you should have questions before, during or after your stay. We will also coordinate necessary services and special requests you or your family may have.

Travel services and visa assistance
International Patient Services will work with your embassy to expedite visas and to provide necessary medical verification and documentation. The goal is to ensure you have a smooth journey to and from the United States.

Hotel accommodations
There are several four-star hotels located within walking distance. Swedish also has negotiated special rates with several nearby hotels for families of international patients, as well as for patients who may need to stay in the area – but not in a hospital – for a period of time during treatment. We can assist you and your family in making these arrangements.

In addition, Swedish has its own mini-hotel – The Inn at Cherry Hill. The inn is conveniently located inside the hospital on the Swedish/Cherry Hill campus. Each of the inn’s 29 rooms has a private bathroom with shower, television and telephone. Guests at the inn share a common kitchen area, dining room and laundry facility.

Dining
Swedish A la carte Dining Services offers a wide variety of menu selections delivered to our patients’ bedsides upon request. This means you are able to order breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks when you are ready to eat, rather than on a predetermined schedule. Because Seattle has a varied ethnic population and an appreciation of cultural diversity, our hospital dining service is able to easily accommodate any special dietary needs you may have. If we are not able to meet your specific request with items from our patient menu, we are able to purchase food in the community or accept family recipes to create the foods to which you are accustomed.

Language interpreters
We want to be certain you and your family members are able to understand the care you are receiving. You, your family members or a Swedish staff member can request an interpreter 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In-person interpreters are provided for more than 50 languages and dialects. Telephone interpreters are available in more than 150 languages. Some Swedish locations also provide video remote interpretation in Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese and Sign Language. There is no cost for this service.

Staying in touch with friends and family members
Free wireless Internet access is available to patients and their family members in most patient rooms and public areas in our hospitals. Swedish also offers patients the opportunity to create free, private and personalized websites to keep friends and family members at home up to date on their progress. This service is called CaringBridge.

Cultural and religious diversity
Seattle is a vibrant, multi-cultural community. This is reflected in the variety of restaurants, entertainment, shopping venues and religious services that are available in the city. We can help you and/or your family members discover what Seattle has to offer, and can also help with reservations, tickets to events or entertainment, coordinate sightseeing excursions or make arrangements for local transportation.
