Wound Healing Center

Mon - Fri: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

For certain types of wounds, your physician may refer you to the Swedish Wound Healing Center. The center offers specialized treatment to help manage and heal acute and chronic wounds.

For most patients, wounds heal naturally as the body works to heal itself. Yet for those whose healing process is delayed or complicated by other conditions, such as age, body size, chronic disease, nutritional status, vascular insufficiencies, immunosuppressants and radiation therapy, the wound site becomes a medical problem that requires specialized treatment and care.

Our multidisciplinary team of experts includes specialty physicians, nurses, physical therapists and support personnel. They work together to provide individualized wound care using a variety of therapies to achieve the best outcome. Close communication with the patient's primary-care provider is an integral part of the Wound Healing Center's approach.

We provide a full range of services:

  • Assessment
  • Coordination of care
  • Support services
  • Treatment planning
  • Education
  • Discharge planning

At your first visit, we provide an assessment of the wound site, including an evaluation of factors that contribute to delayed wound healing. These may include pressure, trauma, poor blood supply, swelling, infection and poor nutrition. Additional testing and procedures are performed if your condition requires them.

From here, our team works to develop an individualized treatment plan that integrates wound-care management, education and support services. You are typically seen weekly. Visits may increase or decrease based on individual needs.

As your wound approaches the final stages of healing, we will work with you to create a maintenance plan to prevent reoccurrence. This plan may include additional medical supplies — such as compression stockings or specialty shoes — that are designed to fit your lifestyle needs.
