Database descriptions:

 

  • DynaMed
    DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by a physician for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. Updated daily, with clinically-organized summaries for nearly 2,000 topics, DynaMed is the only evidence-based reference shown to answer most clinical questions during practice. Now offers up to 20 AAFP or AMA PRA CME credits.
  • EBSCO
    Includes numerous databases for finding references to articles on medical, nursing, allied health, psychiatric, alternative medicine, and health care administration topics. Also includes several hundred full-text journals. A help sheet for EBSCO is available.
     
  • MDConsult
    Includes medical textbooks and journals, searchable databases, drug information, clinical practice guidelines, patient education handouts, CME, and more.  If you have already registered for MD Consult, go to their website, www.mdconsult.com, and log in. If not, please contact the library for access.  
     
  • Ovid
    Our subscription currently includes MEDLINE, Evidence Based Medicine Databases, CINAHL, 250 full-text journals, and over 100 medical & nursing textbooks. A Quick-Reference sheet is available.  A tutorial is also available.
  • ProQuest
    Business, academic, education, and health databases. Includes local, regional & national newspapers.  Includes: Ethnic News Watch, and CultureGrams.  The latter is an online "atlas" of the world's countries, with information on each, including traditions, beliefs, history, and languages.  Access:

  • PubMed
    Although free on the web, our version of NLM's Medline system has been set up to link to the full-text of online journals when available to the Swedish library ("LinkOut").  Be warned that many are only available on-campus.
     
  • Stat!-Ref Medical Reference Library
    13 medical, nursing, drug and allied health books - including ACP Medicine, ACP Pier,  Stedman's Medical Dictionary, and the CPT, DSM-IV, and  ICD-9-CM books.
