Introduction

Thank you for your interest in the PGY1 Residency Program at Swedish Medical Center.

Swedish began its Residency Program in 2003 initially with two (2) residents and increased to our current status of six (6) residents in 2020. The Department of Pharmacy is composed of a highly talented team of experienced practitioners committed to providing quality residency training and excellent pharmaceutical care over five (5) separate campuses.

The Pharmacy Department offers decentralized services for Swedish's multiple specialties. The Resident will participate in all aspects of our pharmacy services and if chosen, will have the opportunity to get experience in other off-site rotational sites.

The Department is committed to providing pharmacy education to medical residents and students, pharmacy interns and students, nurses and other health-care providers. The Resident will interact with medical residents through Family Practice rounds and in the Family Medicine Clinic. In addition, the Resident will precept pharmacy students from all over the nation for their PharmD clerkship rotations and will have the opportunity to instruct students at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy Therapeutics Laboratory.

The Resident will be actively involved in multiple retrospective and prospective clinical administration projects including their major Resident Project. As the Program, department and institution continually evolves, we are looking for a Resident that is looking to create and implement or revise a new service, protocol, policy or project. The Resident has the full support from the faculty and preceptors and will gain valuable skills in project initiation, development and application.

The residency program at Swedish is unique in offering a "Jump Start" Program. This Program begins before the official start of the residency and allows the Resident to complete service commitment requirement training, work on clinical/management projects and do staffing to earn extra income.

To apply to our program, please have all required materials received by us by December 28.
