Graduate Medical Education
Welcome to Swedish Medical Center's Graduate Medical Education website. Swedish Medical Center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and maintains an active quality-improvement program to ensure that all patients receive optimal care in a safe and caring environment.
The primary purpose of the appointment of residents to GME programs at Swedish Medical Center is the completion of a graduate training program in accordance with the standards of the "Essentials of Accredited Residencies" adopted by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. The General Surgery and Family Medicine residencies are sponsored by Swedish Medical Center in order to provide training programs that fulfill and comply with these standards. The Podiatry Residency Program is conducted in accordance with the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) requirements for accreditation.
The Mission of Swedish Medical Center is to improve the health and well being of each person we serve. Learning in an environment where quality care is provided effectively and efficiently leads to the best educational experience. The cost of medical care, the quality of care, and the educational experience should not be considered as separate items, nor should they be in conflict. It is in an environment where quality care is provided effectively and efficiently that the educational experience is best.
