Violent Restraints & One Hour Face-to-Face Evaluation Training

Course Description

The goal of this online training is to review restraint policies and procedures for medical interference and violent behavior as well as one hour face-to-face training requirements.

This is required annual training for all Swedish ARNPs and PAs.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Utilize nonviolent crisis intervention de-escalation techniques.
  • Perform appropriate behavioral health and focused assessments as indicated.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in assessment and justification of the use interventions including: least restrictive alternatives to restraint or seclusion, restraint, and seclusion.
  • Identify role specific responsibilities when initiating/monitoring/continuing/discontinuing the use of restraint and/or seclusion.
  • Provide care in a manner that demonstrates respect for the dignity and individuality of the patient, utilizing a trauma-informed approach.
  • Recognize the importance of the face to face evaluation and care of the restrained or secluded patient.


Participation

This is a self-learning module requiring the participant to review information and answer questions related to the content.  Passing score on the quiz is 80%. Allow 30 minutes to complete the self-learning module and exam, and log-in for completion credit.  You must have Adobe Flash to view this module.

CME Credit

This course is only eligible for self-claimed Category II credit.
