Swedish Medical Group Opens New Clinics in Renton

On June 30, Swedish opened three new clinics in the popular Renton Landing complex at 10th and Park Avenue. One of the largest Swedish clinic settings to date, the new clinics feature a variety of services for adults and children including Swedish Primary Care, Swedish Musculoskeletal Medicine, Swedish Outpatient Rehabilitation Services and Swedish Professional Clinic.

Statement Regarding Informational Picketing at Swedish

Swedish is currently in contract negotiations with SEIU 1199NW, the union that represents approximately 6,800 R.N.s, technicians and service workers at Swedish Medical Center and Swedish Edmonds. Today, the union is conducting informational picketing at Swedish. This is not a strike, and staffing for patient care should not be impacted at any of our campuses.

Possible Traffic Delays and Limited Parking around Swedish Campuses on Wednesday July 1

SEIU Healthcare 1199NW union has notified Swedish that on Wednesday, July 1, some of its union members will be picketing near Swedish hospital and ambulatory care campuses from 12:00 – 2:00pm PT. This picketing will take place at all campuses including First Hill, Cherry Hill, Ballard, Edmonds, Issaquah, Mill Creek and Redmond. In addition, the union has scheduled a rally near the Swedish First Hill campus from 3:30 – 6:30pm PT. This is not a strike, and there will be no disruption in patient care. However, this activity may create some unusual traffic delays around the campuses and may also reduce the amount of parking available near or on Swedish campuses.In anticipation of these events, we recommend that patients with scheduled appointments leave early to allow for these delays.Staffing for patient care and scheduled appointments should not be impacted during this time.

Swedish Hosts 6th Annual Multiple Sclerosis Art Show

Swedish will host its 6th Annual Multiple Sclerosis Art Show this weekend, June 27 and 28, at the Seattle Armory Center. Sponsored by the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute, the Art Show features creative works from those affected by MS in the Pacific Northwest.

Swedish Family Medicine Awarded March of Dimes CenteringPregnancy Grant

The March of Dimes named Swedish Family Medicine Cherry Hill as the recipient of its CenteringPregnancy® Initiative grant. The program, developed by the Centering Healthcare Institute, is a prenatal care model in which expectant mothers are provided medical care, interactive learning, and community building in a group setting by family medicine physicians.

Swedish Continues Labor Negotiations with SEIU 1199NW

In early April, Swedish began the process of negotiating contracts with SEIU 1199NW for RNs, technical workers and service employees. Negotiations continue, with current contracts expiring June 30, 2015. Swedish remains committed to working with the union to develop contracts that offer a competitive wage and benefits package as well as create a supportive and rewarding work environment for its caregivers (employees).
