Chief Human Resources Officer
Naren Balasubramaniam serves as chief human resources (HR) officer for Swedish Health Services. He joined Swedish in April of 2014.
In his role with Swedish, Balasubramaniam is accountable for the Swedish HR function, oversees the Swedish HR team and leads the change management and people engagement strategies at Swedish facilities.
Prior to joining Swedish, Balasubramaniam served as president and chief executive officer of GCI Consulting Group in Farmington Hills, Mich., providing services on strategy, management and technology services in health care.
Balasubramaniam also worked at Henry Ford Health System where he was vice president of business strategies and system HR services/Total Rewards. He has led multiple hospital acquisitions and HR integration projects, cultural transformation and hospital development initiatives in addition to his responsibilities over HR shared services and centers of excellence.
Balasubramaniam has served in various local and national community and professional boards. He has spoken at national and international conferences on value based health care design, medical value travel, cultural competence, and diversity and inclusion. He graduated from the University of Madras with a bachelor of science in physics, and earned his master of social work degree in human resources and industrial relations. Balasubramaniam is a FACHE fellow-designate of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
