Chief Operating Officer
Bryan Mueller provides the operational and strategic oversight for Swedish Medical Group (SMG), the physician division of Swedish Health Services. He partners directly with Swedish’s senior vice president of Physician Services to lead the organization’s overall physician strategy.
Operationally, he is responsible for Swedish Medical Group's nearly 110 primary care and specialty clinics throughout the Greater Seattle area. He’s focused on engaging more than 900 providers and 1,400 employees in clinical transformation efforts and finding innovative ways to improve patient experience. He also serves as administrator for Swedish's two ambulatory care centers in Redmond and Mill Creek.
Mueller stepped into his role at Swedish Medical Group in February of 2012 as the Swedish Health Services and Providence Health Services affiliation was finalized. Previously, he served as the executive director at Minor & James Medical (M&J) from August 2009 to February 2012. His leadership was essential during the integration of Minor & James Medical as a Swedish Health Partner and the successful turnaround of Minor & James Medical.
As part of his healthcare leadership experience, he has served as the chief operating officer of a physician practice in the Seattle area. He has also managed operations, strategy and business development at leading healthcare institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Regions Hospital and HealthPartners Medical Group in Minnesota.
Mueller earned bachelors’ degrees in nursing and chemistry from the University of Manitoba and began his career in health care as a staff nurse in inpatient medicine/oncology in Winnipeg, Canada. He earned a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota and completed an administrative fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
