SEATTLE, Sept. 26, 2005 -- On Sept. 24, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer published an article by reporter Tom Paulson about new research validating that it can be dangerous to combine some cancer therapies and certain natural supplements.
The Swedish Cancer Institute's (SCI) new Medical Director of Naturopathic Services Dr. Dan Labriola, N.D., was interviewed for the article -- as well as one of his SCI patients -- since he helped spearhead local research efforts on this topic more than five years ago.
Scientists at the prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City reported this week in the journal of the American Cancer Society that the use of anti-oxidant supplements such as vitamins C and E could significantly undermine the effectiveness of common chemotherapeutic agents.
