SEATTLE, Oct. 17, 2008 -- In a continuous effort to promote and support women's health, Swedish's Community Health Education Department is hosting a day-long event Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Swedish/Cherry Hill (500 17th Ave., Seattle) titled 'Get Healthy Day for Women.'
This low-cost, public event will feature screening tests, workshops, demonstrations and educational resources. It will be a time for women to enjoy the company of other females as they learn about general health issues and assess their current personal health status. Attendees will learn from many of Swedish’s leading providers who will present the latest information related to women’s health.
Screenings will include:
- Blood pressure
- Bone density
- Body composition
- Mammograms (Mammography will be available for women over the age of 40. Women interested in mammography should bring their insurance cards. Attendees interested in a free mammogram through the Washington Breast and Cervical Health Program, can find out if they qualify when registering for the event.).

- Planning for Your Future: Advance Directives and Retirement
- Women and Cancer
- Bone and Joint Health
- Sexual Health
- Heart Health
The cost to attend is only $10 and includes all screenings with the exception of the mammograms. A light breakfast and boxed lunch will also be provided. Parking will be available for $12 in the garage located on the corner of 16th Ave. and E. Jefferson St. This program is made possible by a charitable donation from AstraZeneca.
