SEATTLE, Oct. 29, 2007 -- It is estimated that about 112,000 people will die of morbid obesity this year in the United States. With the condition now reaching epidemic proportions, it's more important than ever to educate people about the array of available treatment options, which includes bariatric surgery.
In an effort to help increase awareness about this important topic, the director of Swedish's relatively new Weight-Loss Surgery Program -- Ross L. McMahon, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., F.A.C.S. -- along with one of his patients took part in an educational radio interview Oct. 28.
The show, which is titled Patient Power, aired in the Seattle area on KVI Radio (AM 570) and over the Internet.
