SEATTLE, Nov. 1, 2012 - Swedish responded to a security situation this morning (Thursday, Nov. 1) around 9:30 a.m. involving a credible report of a person with what looked to be a gun on the second floor of the 16th Street Garage on the Cherry Hill campus.
The threat was reported to the Seattle Police Department (PD), which connected with Swedish's safety and security teams. The medical center immediately locked down the campus and surrounding streets. Seattle PD, including SWAT, searched all floors and stairwells of both the north and the south parking structures. Nothing was found, and the police determined that there was no additional information or evidence that the person had entered the medical center.
At this time, the threat has been cleared and the lockdown has been lifted. However, we are encouraging staff to remain alert.
Thank you to our staff and the Seattle Police Department for their support in responding to this situation.
