SEATTLE, April 14, 2006 -- On Friday, April 21 between 7-7:30 p.m. on KING Television's (channel 5; NBC) Evening Magazine program, Swedish's Women and Children's Services program will be recognized by reporter Josephine Cheng as having been chosen 'Best Maternity Ward' in their annual Best of Western Washington viewers poll.
According to Cheng, Swedish's Women and Children's Services program won by a large margin in this category, which was new to this year's poll.
As part of Cheng's story, she interviewed the Director of Swedish's Women and Children's Services program Beverly Holland, R.N., in a labor and delivery suite.
Cheng also interviewed a couple who had just given birth to their first child at Swedish. In addition, she visited the medical center's Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where she was able to see some premature infants -- five, in particular -- being cared for in the NICU. The five babies are quintuplets recently born to Courtnee and Mike Stevenson of Poulsbo, which was the first such delivery in Western Washington.
