Swedish System Recognized as ‘Best Hospitals’ by U.S. News & World Report

Swedish is again recognized as one of the leading hospital systems in Washington State as part of U.S. News and World Report’s 2013 Best Hospitals annual rankings, which were released Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

All eligible Swedish campuses were ranked in the top 10% statewide (a total of 107 hospitals are included in the Washington survey.)  Swedish/Issaquah, just entering its third year serving Eastside communities, is not yet included/eligible for the Best Hospitals rankings.

Swedish is included in two categories of rankings:

  1. "Seattle Metro Area" rankings (hospitals from Bellingham to Olympia, a total of 37 hospitals): http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/area/seattle-wa

  2. “Washington State” rankings (hospitals statewide, a total of 107 hospitals): http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/area/wa

Criteria for these rankings are based on four primary categories: 1) patient survival rates, 2) patient safety scores, 3) reputational survey scores of randomly selected physicians in a given region, and 4) other care-related indicators such as nurse staffing and technology.

Swedish’s continued standing as one of the best hospital systems in Washington serves as a clear testament to our Culture of Safety and the high quality, compassionate care we provide every day, across every community we serve.
