Swedish Surgeon Organizes Mt. Rainier Climb of Organ Transplant Recipients, Including Former Olympic Medalist Snowboarder

SEATTLE, July 13, 2009 -- In an effort to help raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, Swedish Organ Transplant Program surgeonAndrew Precht, M.D., organized a climb up 14,411-foot Mt. Rainier this past weekend involving some organ transplant recipients from around the country.

The organ transplant recipients included two Alaska residents, one Seattle-area person and former Olympic medalist snowboarder, Chris Klug.

The climbers want to see more people sign up as organ donors. To become an organ donor, discuss it with your family and have it added to your driver's license.
