Swedish's Ballard, First Hill, Issaquah and Edmonds Campuses Welcome First Babies of the New Year

SEATTLE, Jan. 4, 2013 - The start of each year brings many new things, including new life. And on Jan. 1 Swedish helped welcome many newborns, including those lucky enough to have been born first  on New Year's day at the medical center's Ballard, First Hill, Issaquah and Edmonds campuses.

As it does each year, Swedish helped celebrate those four births in a special way by providing a donated newborn gift basket to each of the families at the four campuses.

The four families and their newborns with impecaable timing included:

Swedish Ballard

  • Lisa and Alex Warren of Magnolia welcomed their first child, a girl named Charlotte Irene, who arrived at 12:19 a.m. She weighed 9 lbs., 5 oz. and was delivered by Dr. Zachary Pollack. Charlotte was the first baby of 2013 to be born in the Swedish system and the second baby of the new year to be born in Seattle. In 2012, which was the 25th anniversary of Swedish's Ballard Family Childbirth Center, there were 957 babies born at the campus.

Swedish First Hill

  • Jamila and Brent Merritt of Columbia City welcomed their first child, a girl named Amor Joy, who arrived at 1:52 a.m. She weighed 6 lbs., 11 oz. and was delivered by Dr. Ann Bridges. In 2012, there were 5,803 babies born at Swedish First Hill.

Swedish Issaquah:

  • Luz Maria and Enrique Mazariegos of Issaquah welcomed their first child, a boy named Adrien, who arrived at 3:33 a.m. He weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz. and was delivered by Dr. Maria Holmes. In 2012, there were 960 deliveries at Swedish Issaquah.

Swedish Edmonds:

  • Lissette Albarracin-Mendez and Carlos Mendez of Edmonds welcomed their second child, a girl named Anaiah, who arrived at 4:32 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz. and was delivered by Dr. Rachel Hollister. In 2012, there were 1,142 deliveries at Swedish Edmonds.

And last but not least ...
