Although she was not among the physicians recognized in the survey results, Swedish's Chief Medical Officer Nancy Auer, M.D., was one of eight local physician leaders who took part in a pre-survey panel for Seattle Metropolitan to help provide information about the local health-care industry, including specialties the magazine should include in the survey.
In addition, the 'Top Doctors' survey results were accompanied by some articles about various leading-edge and futuristic medical technologies that are currently being offered at Seattle-area hospitals or may be in the future. One of the current-day technologies mentioned was the Swedish Neuroscience Institute's (SNI) TeleStroke program. The other was Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's and other movement disorders, for which SNI neurosurgeon Peter Nora, M.D., was interviewed.
