Swedish Medical Center is a proud to partner with STAR 101.5 and the King County Police Union as the presenting sponsor of a new child-safety program – the STAR My ID Club.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, more than 800,000 children in America go missing each year – one child every 40 seconds. The first few hours that a child is missing are crucial. Having current, accurate information saves precious time, but less than two percent of parents had immediate access to a copy of their child's photograph and fingerprints to share with law enforcement.
The STAR My ID Club is intended to help families in the Puget Sound area by providing parents/guardians a means of keeping vital information on their children handy in the event of such unthinkable emergencies.
Throughout the year, the STAR My ID Club team will appear throughout the Puget Sound region at Swedish facilities and hundreds of businesses and community events, making free ID cards available to the parents of young children. As a comprehensive and accurate description of the child, the card is meant to reduce or eliminate any delays to helping law enforcement find the missing child.
