Michael Tuggy, M.D., is a board-certified family medicine physician who serves as director of Swedish/First Hill's Family Medicine Residency program and as medical director of the Swedish Family Medicine/First Hill Campus clinic.

Dr. Tuggy has been a member of Swedish's medical staff since 1984.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Tuggy did his internship in family medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., and his residency in family medicine at Madigan Family Practice. His postgraduate training also included advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, chemical casualty care and advanced life support in obstetrics. Dr. Tuggy served in the U.S. Army for three years, where he received numerous awards, including a Bronze Star, a South-West Asia Campaign Ribbon and a Kuwait Liberation Medal.

He also serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Tuggy is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, National Ski Patrol and the Wilderness Medical Society.
