About Our Program
Heart disease in children can affect a child differently than what is seen in adults with heart disease. Some children can be affected right after birth from a heart defect (congenital heart disease). Studies have shown that 9 out of every 1,000 children are born with congenital heart disease. There are other children who can develop heart problems as they grow older. These conditions are often called acquired heart disease (such as Kawasaki disease).
Physicians who provide care for children with heart disease are specially trained to diagnose and treat these heart conditions. Led by three expert pediatric cardiologists, each with a different subspecialty, our team's primary concern is caring for you and your child. Though we value teaching and research as important endeavors, our top priority is providing the best cardiac care possible while fostering positive, ongoing relationships with our patients. We will always take the time to talk with you and your child and answer any questions you may have, because every concern of yours instantly becomes a concern of ours.
Along with caring for children with heart disease, we provide cardiac care including prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease. Working in collaboration with obstetricians, we are able to diagnose congenital heart defects during pregnancy. We also know that congenital heart disease can be a lifelong condition requiring care from doctors familiar with the disease process, and we care for adult patients with congenital heart disease.
