Swedish SafeRide Car-Seat Program
Low-cost car seats
Swedish SafeRide provides car seats and car-seat training for families whose infants are born at or receive care at Swedish. The program was created to help families with limited incomes buy car seats. However, families of any income level may buy car seats through the SafeRide program with the cost based on income and family size.
No appointment necessary
To buy a car seat, visit the James B. Douglas Health Education Center in the main lobby at Swedish/First Hill. No appointment is needed, but you will be asked to complete a form and watch an instructional video on car-seat use prior to the purchase. The Health Education Center is open for car seat sales from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Car beds for loan
For premature infants, a small car bed for low-weight infants can be borrowed until the baby has grown enough to fit safely into a carrier seat. Loans are free, but a refundable deposit is required to borrow a car bed.
