Spinal Cord Stimulation

The Spinal Cord Stimulation program includes an assessment of the appropriateness for spinal cord or peripheral nerve stimulation for chronic pain. These may include pain due to: failed spinal surgery syndromes; complex, regional pain syndrome; peripheral neuropathies; intractable migraines; painful peripheral vascular disease; intractable angina or other intractable pain syndromes.

The program assesses if adequate conservative therapies have failed. Optimization of therapies which may include medications, psychology, physical therapy and occupational therapy will be done before any trial or permanent implantation. Prior to a permanent SCS implant, a one-week trial is done with functional testing to assess efficacy.
