What is a Certified Hand Therapist - (CHT)?

A CHT is an occupational or physical therapist who has 
detailed knowledge of the anatomy and treatment of the
upper quadrant. CHTs have a minimum of 5 years clinical
experience and have successfully passed an examination of 
advance clinical skills in upper extremity rehabilitation.

What does rehabilitation provided by CHT entail?

Working closely with physicians, CHTs specialize in the
 rehabilitation of persons with conditions affecting the hand
and upper quadrant. They evaluate and treat a variety
of conditions including:

  • tendon and nerve injuries
  • lacerations
  • fractures and dislocations
  • arthritis
  • inflammatory disorders
  • chronic-pain syndrome
  • neurovascular compressions
