Stroke

In the event of a stroke, every minute counts. Our comprehensive Stroke Program is designed to ensure stroke patients are treated quickly and efficiently, using the most advanced treatments and technologies available.
The Joint Commission has certified Swedish/Cherry Hill, Swedish/First Hill, and the emergency departments at Swedish/Ballard and Swedish/Issaquah as Primary Stroke Centers. This designation recognizes the expertise and dedication of the Swedish stroke team, which includes physicians, nurses, imaging and lab staff, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond within minutes of a patient’s arrival in the Emergency Department.
We’re able to perform and interpret urgent CT scans and MRIs, as well as quickly process lab tests for stroke patients. Swedish also has an innovative Telestroke Program, which uses computer technology and secure video conferencing to lend our stroke expertise to physicians treating patients in outlying communities.
