For Patients & Families
A brain tumor or brain cancer diagnosis can be frightening and overwhelming for patients and their families. At Swedish, we do everything we can to provide compassionate care and support.
The medical team at the Ivy Center – as well as our patient-support specialist and social workers – are all focused on the challenges unique to people living with brain tumors. Our goal is to provide you a personalized, comprehensive treatment plan and access to services that ensure that your experience is as free of stress as possible.
Integrative Patient Support Program
In 2010, the Ivy Center added a unique position: an integrative patient support specialist. This provider works directly with brain tumor patients, offering:
- Emotional support
- Support Services
- Assistance in assessing and scheduling of Complementary Therapies
- Assistance with financial or insurance issues
- Help with logistical needs
- Assistance with long term planning
This position is funded entirely by the Chris Elliot Fund. This vital nonprofit also provides cutting-edge research to help patients live longer and move closer to finding a cure for brain cancer.
Every patient also receives a notebook that provides a comprehensive overview of brain cancer treatment and the services available at the Ivy Center and throughout Swedish. This Patient Resource Guide includes information about symptom management, resources available to patients and caregivers and further tools and educational materials that will provide guidance throughout treatment and beyond.
Patients and caregivers can contact Stacie Beam-Bruce, MSW, LICSW at 206-320-2300 with any questions about the treatment and care provided by the Ivy Center.
