Meet Our Experts
The experts at the Swedish Cerebrovascular Center have many years of experience in their respective specialties. They are also dedicated and deeply involved in training future specialists in cerebrovascular disease. The team includes:
Neurosurgeon: Dr. David Newell is recognized worldwide for his expertise in surgically treating and repairing aneurysms, AVMs, Moyamoya and other rare conditions. In addition to writing one of the premier medical textbooks on cerebral aneurysms, which is used to train future neurosurgeons, Dr. Newell also helped pioneer techniques that minimize the risk of stroke after aneurysm repair.
Interventional Neuroradiologists: Interventional neuroradiologists are radiologists, neurologists and/or neurosurgeons who have received additional training in diagnosing cerebrovascular disorders using CT, MRI and cerebral angiogram imaging and in repairing brain aneurysms using minimally invasive techniques such as aneurysm coiling. Read more about our two experts, Dr. Joe Eskridge and Dr. Yince Loh.

Stroke Neurologist: A neurologist is a physician who has extra training and expertise in treating conditions of the nervous system. The neurologist works closely with the emergency room physician to perform a neurologic exam on the patient who has suffered a stroke. This evaluation is critical in determining how the stroke has affected the patient and the best treatment. In addition to serving as the Medical Director of the Stroke Program at Swedish Neuroscience Institute, Dr. William Likosky is the stroke neurologist at the Cerebrovascular Center.
