Uterine Cancer

At the Swedish Cancer Institute, women with uterine cancer – as well as women with cervical and ovarian cancer – receive care through a nationally recognized gynecological cancer program. This includes the expertise of a renowned team of physicians, surgeons and other specialists. All Swedish uterine-cancer patients benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to care that encompasses leading-edge imaging techniques, the latest in treatment options and a full selection of high-quality support services.

Your personalized, multidisciplinary cancer care team may include:

 gynecology oncologists   radiologists
 medical oncologists  cancer-care nurses
 radiation oncologists  pharmacists
 psychiatrists   social workers
 pathologists  technologists

Members of our multidisciplinary care teams meet regularly to share information and discuss patient cases, in order to determine an integrated course of care for each person.

Uterine cancer

Uterine cancer usually arises from the surface of the uterus or endometrium and less often from glands in the uterus. For most women, uterine cancer is brought to medical attention because of unanticipated or problematic bleeding from the uterus, usually occurring after menopause. Fortunately, 80 percent of women diagnosed because of abnormal bleeding will have cancer limited to the uterus (stage I and II) – and a high proportion are cured. Learn more about uterine cancer
