About Supplements
Some nutritional and herbal supplements can increase side effects or prevent chemotherapy, radiation and surgery from working as planned. Since many cancer medicines and therapies continue to work for some time after the treatment it is often necessary to discontinue certain supplements for days or weeks, not just the day of treatment, to avoid interference.
Fortunately, many nutritional and herbal supplements can be used safely and effectively during therapy. If you wish to use supplements during treatment, including a multiple vitamin, discuss this with your doctor’s office before starting.
