Radiation Oncology Team

Radiation oncologists are physicians who specialize in the use of radiation therapy to treat cancer. In addition to a radiation oncologist, a radiation therapy team includes radiation-oncology nurses, who are specially trained in cancer and radiation treatment; dosimetrists, who specialize in planning exactly how the radiation will be delivered to the area to be treated; radiation therapists, who will help prepare you for treatment and administer the radiation treatment according to the plan developed by your radiation oncologist; and radiation physicists, who make sure the process is done safely and accurately.

Our radiation therapy team has a long history of innovation and continues to offer patients the latest, most advanced radiation technologies available, including several that have been pioneered or launched by Swedish physicians through the Center for Advanced Targeted Radiation Therapies, such as CyberKnife, mammosite, prostate-cancer seed implants and Calypso Medical's GPS for the Body.
