CyberKnife
CyberKnife is the world's first and only robotic radiosurgery system. Although its name suggests scalpels, operating rooms and recovery time, CyberKnife treatment involves no cutting, no pain and no hospital stay. It is a safe alternative to surgery for the treatment of cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body - including the prostate.
Today, CyberKnife Robotic-assisted Radiosurgery - a robotic radiation therapy that sounds like surgery, but isn't - is offering new hope for patients with localized prostate cancer (Stage I and Stage II). It also can be used to treat prostate cancer that has recurred after a radical prostatectomy or previous treatment.
CyberKnife has been used to treat prostate cancer for about six years. Studies are showing CyberKnife treatment produces exceptionally good PSA responses with a low incidence of side effects.
