Cancer Rehabilitation Physician (Onco-Physiatrist)
A physiatrist, or physician specializing in rehabilitation medicine, helps restore optimal function and quality of life to people who as a result of illness or injury have reduced ability to participate in everyday activity. An onco-physiatrist is a rehabilitation physician sub-specializing in cancer rehabilitation.
At Swedish Cancer Institute our onco-physiatrist develops, implements, and supervises a rehabilitation treatment plan that reduces cancer treatment side effects (e.g., fatigue, pain and emotional distress), improves physical fitness and feelings of well‐being, and empowers you to become an active participant in your care.
