Mercer Island Half Marathon

Join us at the Swedish Cancer Institute Mercer Island Half Marathon to promote colon cancer awareness and prevention. Events in addition to the half marathon include: 10K run, 5K run and walk, and a Kid's Dash.

Not a runner? You can still help by volunteering or making a donation in support of colon cancer prevention.

Support Group

The Swedish Cancer Institute offers a variety of support groups. The groups provide an opportunity to meet with others having experiences similar to your own. Each group is facilitated by an experienced Swedish Cancer Institute support group facilitator and are open to all people in the community.

Support group members experience and receive:

  • An understanding of diagnosis and treatment
  • A safe and caring place to share feelings and learn self-care skills
  • A place to develop coping skills and discover how one lives life fully in the midst of cancer

Cancer Education Classes

The Swedish Cancer Institute offers programs to assist you, your family and your caregivers in making treatment decisions, managing your symptoms and accessing complementary programs to help your mind, body and spirit to heal. Registration is required for all classes.

Meetings to Support Head & Neck Cancer Patients, Survivors, Family Members and Friends 

Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer, Inc. (SPOHNC), a patient-directed self-help organization, was founded by an oral cancer survivor. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the emotional, physical and humanistic needs of patients and their caregivers.

Join the monthly meetings offering information, support and encouragement to newly diagnosed oral and head and neck cancer patients, survivors, family members and friends in a friendly and non-threatening forum.

The series will provide a forum for case presentations and discussions of protocols and care pathways, as well as technology-related issues in the care of patients with cancer. You must be on staff at Swedish Medical Center to attend this series. This series consists of 11 sub-series across three campuses.
