Symptoms
A woman whose breast cancer is in the early stages may not experience any symptoms. As the cancer progresses, however, she may notice some of the following changes in her body:
- A lump or thickening in or near the breast or underarm
- A change in the shape or size of the breast
- Spontaneous nipple discharge
- Dimpling, puckering, redness, or scaling on the breast, nipple or areola
These symptoms need to be evaluated but are not always related to cancer.
