Common Questions
What will the visit be like?
Typicall the initial visit is approximately one hour long. During that visit we explore your concerns, symptoms and past history and then discuss our clinical impressions and any treatment we may be recommending. Sometimes we have to talk to your primary-care doctor or others (with your permission) to decide on the best treatment plan. You are welcome to being along your significant other or baby to the visit.
I have heard that you should not take any medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding Why should I come see you?
Many people worry about the effects of medications on their baby during pregnancy. Not all patients need medications, but sometimes they are recommended. We both have a particular interest in this area and can discuss with you the latest information about risks and benefits of medications in pregnancy and breastfeeding. The choice to take medications is yours. Our hope is that you can make an informed decision.
How long will I see you?
We will work closely with your primary-care doctor or obstetrician to support you through this time and hep find resources in the community as needed. The limits of our practice are such that we do not usually follow patients over the long-term once their pregnancy is over.
Do you offer psychotherapy?
Unfortunately, no. We do have training and expertise in several psychotherapy modalities however, and can discuss the options with you and assist you in finding a therapist in the community.
