About the ER
Unlike a traditional ER, the Swedish/Issaquah ER is freestanding, meaning it is not physically connected to a hospital, but has all necessary emergency staffing and equipment on-site. The Swedish/Issaquah ER is built to hospital standards and is staffed by board-certified emergency-medicine physicians, registered nurses experienced and trained in emergency care, emergency-department technicians and clerical support staff.
Patients needing hospitalization can be transported to one of Swedish's medical centers in Seattle or another facility nearby. (On average, only about 10 percent of freestanding ER patients require hospitalization.) In every case, Swedish staff ensures that patients get the quickest and best medical care possible.
