KUOW Radio Airs Pieces on CyberKnife for Breast Cancer at Swedish, New Directions in Cancer Care

SEATTLE, Aug. 26, 2011 - On Thursday morning, Aug. 25, KUOW Radio (94.9 FM, National Public Radio) aired a story about CyberKnife for breast cancer. Three staff people from the Swedish Radiosurgery Center  — Swedish Cancer Institute radiation oncologist Dr. Sandra Vermeulen, staff nurse Estelle Bolster, and CyberKnife radiation therapist Lovit Hines — were interviewed for the piece.

KUOW then re-aired the story at 9 a.m. as a lead in to a discussion on their Weekday program about 'New directions in cancer care.' Swedish Cancer Institute medical oncologist Dr. Howard (Jack) West was one of four guests who contributed to that discussion. He talked about patient online communities and self learning of cancer information, the increasing complexity of cancer as it becomes molecularly defined, etc.
