Swedish offers volunteer opportunities in Seattle at our First Hill, Cherry Hill and Ballard hospital locations as well as at the stand-alone emergency room in Issaquah and Swedish Visiting Nurse Services.
As a volunteer, you can earn service-learning hours required by schools, colleges and universities. Local agencies also partner with Swedish to give volunteers new skills and real work experience.
At Swedish, you'll find a wide variety of opportunities from traditional to innovative volunteer placements. It is our goal to match you with a meaningful, interesting position.
Make a difference
As a volunteer, you really can make a difference. We witness that fact every day here at Swedish. By generously giving their time and compassion, our volunteers experience the humbling fulfillment that comes naturally from helping others.
Discover a hidden talent
Wherever you are in life, it's never too late to develop new skills or uncover hidden talents. All of our volunteers have an integral role our healthcare team. Through helping staff and comforting patients and visitors, you just might find your life heading in a whole new direction with life-changing rewards.
Learn something new
As a volunteer in a health care setting, you experience the day-to-day efforts of delivering quality care to a diverse patient population. In many cases, you may satisfy required service learning hours or earn academic credit as part of your volunteer experience. At Swedish, it's important that we provide our volunteers with opportunities to meet their own needs and interests in addition to those of the organization.
Establish new friendships
We invite our volunteers to participate in many educational and social activities. Participation in these activities reinforces the inspiring and richly rewarding culture of excellence at Swedish. Many lasting friendships are formed while carrying out your volunteer assignment.
