Swedish System Chief Nursing Officer
Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, First Hill


As chief nursing officer, June Altaras oversees all aspects of clinical nursing practice standards and nursing leadership throughout the Swedish Health Services System. She works with all members of the senior leadership team, physicians, and the board to assure the highest quality of care for our patients. She is establishing Swedish as a premier nursing organization nationally, and creating a nursing center of excellence within Swedish Health Services. She is responsible for creating a culture that supports and provides for the professional development of nursing practice, management, and leadership.

As senior vice president and chief operating officer for First Hill, Altaras has leadership oversight for planning, organizing, implementing and managing operations for Swedish/First Hill.  As part of the Operational Executive team she directs and oversees safety and quality assessment/improvement, strategic and operational planning, budget preparation and execution, and clinical operations.

Altaras has a passion for patient safety, quality, and service. She enjoys working with teams to improve patient outcomes, experience, and organizational effectiveness. She has spoken at several national conferences on leading sustainable change, including speaking before the United States Congress.

Altaras is an alumnus of the University of Washington and is currently affiliate faculty with the University Of Washington School Of Nursing.
