Joanne Suffis
Vice President, Human Resources
Joanne Suffis is vice president (VP) of Human Resources (HR) for Swedish. She previously served as the organization's interim vice president of HR from October 2006 until April 2007.
As VP of Human Resources for Swedish, Suffis oversees all HR functions, including recruitment, benefits and compensation, employee and labor relations, and workforce planning.
Prior to joining Swedish, Suffis served as executive director and then interim vice president for HR at the University of Washington, where she had HR and labor-relations responsibilities for three campuses and two medical centers – University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview.
Before relocating to the Seattle area, Suffis spent 15 years in northern and southern California in a variety of increasingly responsible HR and labor-relations positions, working for General Electric and Gap Inc.
She earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island and a master's degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
