SEATTLE, March 30, 2006 – Within two minutes this morning, Courtnee and Mike Stevenson's family grew from three to eight. Shortly after 9 a.m. at Swedish Medical Center, the Poulsbo couple and their 3-year-old daughter, Lilli, made history by welcoming Western Washington's first recorded set of quintuplets.
With Mike, 33, in the operating room, Courtnee, 31, delivered the four girls and one boy via C-section. First to arrive at 9:17 a.m. was a girl, Aniston, who weighed 3 pounds 12 ounces and measured 15.75 inches long. Next, at 9:17 a.m., came a boy, Weston, who weighed 3 pounds 5 ounces and measured 15.25 inches long. Then came a girl, Belle, at 9:17 a.m. who weighed 3 pounds 2.7 ounces and measured 15 inches long. One minute later, at 9:18 am, a girl, Camilee, arrived weighing 2 pounds 12.4 ounces and measured 15.25 inches long. Then at 9:18 a.m., the last baby girl, Scarlett, arrived weighing 3 pounds 2.5 ounces and measuring 15.25 inches long.
According to their care providers, Courtnee and the five infants are doing well and in stable condition. Since the babies were born prematurely at 31 weeks, they will now spend at least the next month in Swedish's Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
