Dozens of Swedish-Affiliated Physicians Recognized by Peers in Seattle Magazine's 11th-Annual Top Doctors Survey

SEATTLE , July 25, 2011 – Dozens of Swedish-affiliated physicians were recently recognized by their peers as part of Seattle magazine's 11th-annual Top Doctors survey, the results of which are published in the July issue (on news stands now).

For the second time, Seattle magazine's Top Doctors list resulted from a collaboration with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a health-care research and information company that works with magazines across the country to produce similar top doctors features. Castle Connolly also publishes several resource books on physicians, including America's Top Doctors and America's Top Doctors for Cancer.

In conducting research for the Top Doctors feature, Castle Connolly invited all licensed physicians in King County and portions of Snohomish, Kitsap and Pierce counties to nominate their peers through a special Web site. With support from the communications staffs at hospitals and clinics in the Seattle area, the response was strong. Participants submitted 6,511 nominations - an average of nearly 13 nominations cast by each participant. This allowed Castle Connolly to enhance its existing processes and arrive at the list of top doctors for this feature.

Several factors determined which names appeared on the list, including the number of nominations a physician received, the area of specialty, the number of practitioners in the specialty and geographic distribution. In addition to Castle Connolly's review of state licensure, Seattle magazine verified at press time that all physicians listed are in good standing with the Washington State Department of Health (To verify any provider on the list, visit www.doh.wa.gov and click on 'Provider Credential Search.'). While Seattle magazine's list is comprehensive, it is not exhaustive. Many well-qualified providers are not included, but Seattle magazine is confident that those listed are among the best in their areas of specialty.

Of the 398 physicians recognized, 113 are affiliated with – or credentialed to practice at – Swedish. They include:
