Despite the winter-like weather, spring is quickly flying by. In honor of it being the fifth month of the year, here are five facts to note about the new Swedish/Issaquah campus located in the Issaquah Highlands.

1: The medical center opens in two phases.

Phase 1 opens in just under two months – on July 14. This phase includes the opening of the medical office building and outpatient services, including: primary care, emergency room, imaging center, breast-care center, outpatient surgery, cancer center, physical therapy, outpatient lab, testing and treatment center, and specialty-care such as:

• Physical and Occupational Therapy

Phase 2 opens Nov. 1, 2011. As you may have heard, we are several months ahead of schedule and will open the inpatient hospital services earlier than planned. The following services are coming in November:

• Inpatient Surgery
• Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Units
• Pediatric Inpatient Unit
• Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit
• Intensive Care Unit

 2: Get a sneak peak of the new campus on Saturday, July 9.

Save Saturday, July 9 for a day to celebrate with Swedish. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Swedish will be hosting a celebration that promises fun for the whole family. Along with tours, health-education classes, and giveaways, the annual Highlands Day festival will be taking place right next door. More to come!

3: Shop at the New Swedish/Issaquah

In addition to providing an array of medical services, Swedish is enhancing the patient experience by incorporating new retail shops into the facility. Located in the heart of the new Swedish/Issaquah campus, the Shops at Swedish brings together health and wellness products, unique gifts and personalized services. We’re just a few months away from opening stage one of the new Swedish Medical Center. We hope you save the date Saturday, July 9 for our grand opening community event that will include tours, activities, giveaways and fun for the whole family. And, hopefully a lot of sunshine and NO rain! We’re combining our event with Highlands Days, so it is sure to be a day full of celebration.

Our new facility in Issaquah will create many career opportunities in Issaquah, as well as at our existing Swedish facilities. In fact, some positions previously not recently available at other Swedish facilities will open up, due to employees accepting new positions in Issaquah. Currently, there are 25 new jobs posted for our new Issaquah Hospital. You can find them at www.swedish.org/careers.

Throughout 2011, new openings will be listed for other Swedish facilities and services (such as our Seattle hospital locations, area physician clinics, and Visiting Nurse Services program) and for our future Issaquah campus, as well as for our freestanding Ambulatory Care Centers in Redmond and Mill Creek. This will be a big year for the Swedish project, with the first phase of the medical center opening in July.

Hospital & Central Wings:

  As a reminder, the new medical center is being opened in two stages. The first stage is the opening of the medical-office building and outpatient center in July 2011.

What’s happening at Swedish Issaquah?

Happy New Year to you and yours! As we enter the mid part of the month, Swedish continues to work at an aggressive pace at the Issaquah construction site.

The exterior finish work will be complete by end of January for both the hospital wings and the medical office building, showcasing a mix of pre-cast concrete, Swiss pearl, metal panel, brick masonry and glass curtainwall.

Interior build-out continues throughout all floors ranging from paint, mechanical and electrical equipment trim, ceramic tile, ceilings and casework installation. Concurrently around the site, ground preparation for landscaping and irrigation systems continues.
