SEATTLE, April 24, 2006 -- On Saturday morning, April 22 about 5,000 people gathered at Quest Field to take part in the March of Dimes' (MOD) annual WalkAmerica event through downtown Seattle to raise funds for research surrounding the care of premature infants.
The MOD said it expected to raise about $690,000 in pledges on Saturday, and hopes to raise $1.1 million more in eight walks around Washington state in the next month.
As it has for a number of years, Swedish was an event sponsor, had a large team of employees participate and hosted a booth at the event.
Swedish Pediatric Specialty Care Medical Director Greg Sorensen, M.D., attended the event and was interviewed by a Seattle Times reporter for an article about the event, cause and people affected. To read this piece online, click here.
