Todd Strumwasser, M.D., is Swedish's chief of staff, which is a position he will hold until 2011. He is a board certified anesthesiologist with Physicians Anesthesia Service.

Prior to becoming chief of staff in January 2009, he had served as chief of staff-elect from 2006 to 2008, chairing the medical staff quality oversight committee and the quality management committee.

As chief of staff, Dr. Strumwasser's duties include running all general meetings of the medical staff; serving as chair of the Medical Executive Committee; attending Swedish Board of Trustees meetings; as well as communicating the views, policies, needs and grievances of the medical staff and reporting on its medical activities to the Board and president. He is also responsible for appointing the chair of each medical staff committee; acting as medical staff spokesperson on hospital initiatives; overseeing medical staff input into the hospital's accreditation process; and interpreting and implementing these bylaws and the medical staff rules, regulations and policies.

Dr. Strumwasser graduated medical school from the University of Southern California. He completed his residency at U.W. Affiliated Hospitals.
